Safe Haven Baby Box Planned for Hermitage Fire Station 1

The Hermitage Fire Department is pleased to announce plans to install a Safe Haven Baby Box at Hermitage Fire Station 1, located at 2511 Highland Road.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes provide a secure, anonymous, and legal option for parents in crisis to safely surrender an infant. The box is climate-controlled, monitored 24/7, and immediately alerts on-duty personnel when it is opened, ensuring a rapid and safe response.

The installation of a Safe Haven Baby Box reflects the Hermitage Fire Department’s continued commitment to public safety and community well-being. Once installed, the box will offer a compassionate alternative for families facing overwhelming circumstances, while ensuring infants receive immediate care.

Additional details regarding installation timelines and community support opportunities will be shared as the project moves forward.

For more information about Safe Haven Baby Boxes and their mission, visit www.shbb.org

For those wishing to donate to the project, follow the link below or scan the QR Code provided.

City Information
2026 Updated Sewer Rate Information

The 2026 City of Hermitage budget includes, for the first time in 35 years, a real estate tax increase. The increase, which applies only to the city portion, is from 5 mills to 7 mills. County and school district taxes are not affected by this change. Real estate tax is calculated on the assessed value, not the appraised value, of the property and the assessed value of the average Hermitage residential property is approximately $30,000. Therefore, a 2-mill real estate tax increase equates to an increase of $5 per month, or $60 per year.

The Hermitage Board of Commissioners have directed that the revenue derived from the increase will be allocated solely to street paving in 2026 and street paving and infrastructure improvements going forward.
