[ARCHIVED] New Tradition for Hermitage FD

Firefighters 3

Full swearing in statement below:

"Today we are here for a swearing in ceremony for firefighters, one of the world’s most honored but dangerous occupations. When there is an emergency in the community, firefighters are one of the first on the scene. Firefighters are there at devastating ravages of fire, motor vehicle accidents, tornadoes, hazardous material incidents, rescue operations, explosions, medical emergencies and many other critical incidents. Our firefighters are volunteers, following standard policies and procedures of the fire service and standard operating procedures of the Hermitage-Patagonia Volunteer Fire Departments. They are there to prevent human suffering and death, to stabilize the incident and prevent damages and loss of property. It is a great honor to have this opportunity to swear in these probationary firefighters of the Hermitage-Patagonia Volunteer Fire Departments, Darryl Armstrong & Greg Bradac. Please stand and raise your right hand and repeat after me:

I (Darryl Armstrong / Greg Bradac) do hereby declare, that I will support the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and that, as a member of the Hermitage-Patagonia Volunteer Fire Departments, my fundamental duty is to serve the people I swear to protect, to safeguard and preserve life, health and property against fire and other perils, and to maintain a proficiency in the fire service.

I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith and trust, and I accept so long as I am true to the ethics of the fire service and make these promises so solemnly, freely, and upon my honor."
