The Pennsylvania Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program is currently accepting applications from qualified homeowners and renters who may receive a rebate on the previous year’s property taxes. Eligible applicants are homeowners or renters who are 65 years of age or older; or who are widows or widowers who are 50 years of age or older; or who are permanently disabled and 18 years of age or older. Additionally, applicants must have household income of $46,520 or less, in the previous year, however only one-half of Social Security benefits are counted toward the income threshold. Homeowners must have paid the previous year’s property taxes in full to qualify. Rebate amounts are based on household income, and total rent paid for renters, with the maximum rebate being $1,000.
