Hermitage city officials, with the help of a consultant and a steering committee, have been pouring over statistics about the city, meeting with groups of business people, high school students and others, and interpreting the results of an online survey as part of the process of updating the city's comprehensive plan.
Now, they invite anyone who was not touched by those efforts, but wants to learn about or comment on the plan, to attend a public meeting at 6:00 p.m. Sept. 12 in the Hermitage City Building, 800 N. Hermitage Road.
The comprehensive plan is a document that sets forth a long-range vision for the city, and strategies to make that vision a reality. While a comprehensive plan is not legislation, it can set the stage for the adoption of city ordinances and amendments, and help city officials set priorities.
The meeting will include an explanation of what the plan is, the value of it to the city, and what work has been accomplished on the update so far, said City Manager Gary Hinkson.
There will be a question-and-answer session and “the consultant ( Mackin Engineering Co. of Pittsburgh) will lead us through some exercises to get input,” he said.
Hinkson added that anyone who has commented in the past also is welcome to attend the meeting.
“We think public input is valuable to the process,” he said.
