"An open house plans display will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Wednesday, May 15. The goal of the meeting is to introduce the public to the study and gather input to help in the development of a long-range strategy for improving the corridor, which focuses on approximately 11 miles of Route 62 from Keel Ridge Road in the City of Hermitage to Route 19 in the Borough of Mercer, including where the roadway runs through Jefferson, Lackawannock, and East Lackawannock townships.
The purpose of the study is to identify existing issues related to Route 62, including roadway, traffic, infrastructure, or other transportation-related safety needs along the corridor in order to develop an action plan of possible short-term and long-term projects.
Information on the study’s purpose, status, and schedule will be available for review and comment at the open house. PennDOT representatives, along with the design consultants, will make a brief presentation at 5:30 PM and will be available to answer questions.

During the open house attendees will have the option to use a digital WikiMap to identify locations along the corridor where they believe there is a potential safety need or other opportunity for improvement. Users can put “pins” on the map to identify safety comments, concerns, and ideas at related to the study.
Following the meeting, information on the study will also be available through the PennDOT District 1 website www.penndot.gov/District1.
The plans display is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
The display is being held in a facility that complies with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and it is accessible to individuals who have disabilities. Also, the project documents will be made available in alternative languages or formats if requested.
