Important Reminder for Residents Mailing Tax Payments
Due to changes to the U.S. Postal Service’s Regional Transportation Optimization (RTO) implemented on April 1, 2025, mailed payments may experience 1–2 day delays in postmarks. This could affect your proof of timely payment.
Key points for residents:
- Mail dropped in blue boxes or post office slots may not be postmarked until the next day.
- Sundays and federal holidays are not counted for postmark purposes.
- To avoid late payment issues, mail your taxes at least one week before the due date, or hand-deliver them to the post office during business hours to receive a hand-stamped postmark.
Note: First-class postage rates did not increase this January (2026)
